(syllabus)
The module will be divided into two parts:
1) in the first part students will be provided with a broad introduction to the main historical and literary features of the English Renaissance through the study of a selection of texts by several Elizabethan and Jacobean authors.
2) The second part will be devoted to deepening the knowledge of Shakespeare through the study of two plays and a poem (The Tempest, Cymbeline e The Rape of Lucrece).
The course will be delivered in English (general presentations) and Italian (close reading and translation) with a specific intermedial and comparative approach to texts.
Students who cannot regularly attend lessons are kindly requested to make an appointment with the module convenor during her office hours in order to get detailed information about the programme.
