(syllabus)
The Course will touch upon the following topics: - Key structural features of the International Community within the legal perspective; - International personality of States and other recipients of international legal norms (e.g. IOs); - Legal sources: customary law and international general law; treaties and the law of treaties; sources from treaties; relationship between written and oral law; codification of international law; jus cogens; - The relationship between international law and State law and the reception of international law within the Italian legal system; - Illegal acts and international responsibility; - International disputes resolution. Moreover the following issues will be debated: territorial sovereignty and related limitations; prohibition of the use of force and the maintenance of peace and international security; human rights protection; self-determination of peoples.
