This course addresses selected issues of macroeconomics emphasizing the links between economic growth, development and distributive policies. Topics covered include: basic facts of economic growth and long-run economic development; comparative analysis of macroeconomic policies in advanced, emerging and developing countries; the dynamics of income distribution and institutional change; the institutional and political determinants of economic growth and distributive policies; the choice and consequences of policy responses to crises. Discussion of these issues are addressed through lectures, case studies, guest speakers and laboratory exercises.
