HISTORY OF RENAISSANCE PHILOSOPHY
(objectives)
The first set of lessons will provide a general introduction to the natural and moral philosophy of the major thinker of the Renaissance. This will be followed by a close-reading and discussion of the most important passages in two emblematic texts, More’s Utopia and Campanella’s Città del sole, with a view of exploring the similarities and defferences between them. The course will also pay a particular attention to passages in works of Erasmus concerning peace.
