Acquisition of a knowledge of literary and cultural history of Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America of the nineteenth century and the contemporary era, with particular regard to the interrelation with the social and historical dynamics that have characterized the Spanish-American culture of this period. Discussion of issues relating to cultural and literary theories of multiculturalism and multi ethnicity. Acquisition of advanced skills for analysis and interpretation of texts, with particular attention to the methods of philology and historical-cultural studies. Acquisition of the ability to formulate independently (including for the final exam: essay three years) cases of reading and interpretation of the texts studied in relation to the contextual dimension that will be given during the course.
Prerequisites: Spanish-American Language and Literatures II.
