Religious Rom in Modern Age: sources and search ways Making use of different sources and various historiographical approaches, the course intends to examine some aspects of the religious life in Rome from the Napoleonic period to our times, in order to verify if and how the political, social and juridical transformations, happened in these two centuries, have fallen on the “status” of Rome, the catholic world’ sacred city, on the role of the ecclesiastical authority, on the religious institutions and their pastoral, charitable, educational and spiritual activities, on the people’s religious practice and devotions. It will try to guide the students to acquire the competency in searching, reading, utilizing and elaborating the sources and to introduce them to the historiographical debates, across methodological lessons, practical exercises of search and reading of various sources, of historiography’s discussion, of use of search’s tools and subsidies and also across tours to archives and libraries.
