AFTER THE COURSE, THE STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO: 1) DESCRIBE IN PHYLOGENETIC TERMS THE MORPHOLOGICAL, BIOGEOGRAPHICAL AND ECOLOGICAL TRAITS OF THE FOCAL GROUPS OF VERTEBRATES SELECTED FOR THE COURSE (CF. THE ELECTRONIC FILES GIVEN BY THE PROFESSOR); 2) ASSIGN A GIVEN SPECIES OF VERTEBRATE TO ITS HIGHER TAXONOMIC GROUPS AND DISCUSS ITS PHYLOGENETIC POSITION; 3) BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE AT SPECIES LEVEL THE VERTEBRATES OF THE EUROPEAN FAUNA, WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THE SPECIES OF CONSERVATION CONCERN OR ECONOMIC INTEREST (FISHERY, ACQUACULTURE, HUNTING, PET TRADE, PEST MANAGEMENT, ECC.); 4) WORKING FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE AGENCIES ON NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS FOCUSED ON BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION, WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABLE EXPLOITATION OF ANIMAL RESOURCES.
