PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE
(objectives)
An introduction to central issues of the philosophy of science, including the nature of scientific explanation, scientific reasoning and hypotheses, and the epistemic content of scientific theories. Besides introducing the main themes and problems, the course will be based on the direct examination of texts - in particular, of the work of two key figures in 20th century philosophy of science: C.G. Hempel and K.R. Popper.
