The course lines foresee the presentation of basic theoretical problems and the carrying out of practical activities related to the topics discussed.
Theoretical aspects: introduction to Gender Studies and Discourse Analysis, in view of the first basics of textual analysis and Translation Studies. Characteristics of written and spoken discourse; structures and functions of language; genres and registers; linguistic variety; intercultural communication; media languages.
Practical aspects: Analysis of different textual typologies according to the refinement of textual criticism skills and translation strategies. Non-literary texts and literary texts: linguistic, stylistic and cultural characteristics. Translation training through the analysis of already translated texts. Text analysis and visual translation exercises. Speech syntax exercises. Introduction to the main translator tools (dictionaries, online tools).
