The course aims to give students a basic understanding of political and socio-economic contemporary Spain, starting from the roots of national identity in the modern era, focusing on the most significant moments of the 19th century (the dissolution of the colonial empire, the struggle for the affirmation of the liberal state, the start of industrialization) and 20th century (social tensions, the Second Republic, the Civil War, the regime of Franco, the transition to democracy) .
