| LEGAL INFORMATICS . AND LEGAL LOGIC
(objectives)
The course aims at introducing the students to the most basic questions in the domains of legal logics and legal informatics respectively. In the part of the course that will deal with legal logics, we will take in consideration the fundamental logical conceptions and tools, their applicability in the legal domain and legal reasoning (both in legal interpretation and in the evaluation of evidence), the logical analysis of legal discourse with specific reference to judicial decisions, legal argumentation and interpretive techniques. In the part of the course that will deal with legal informatics, we will explore the history and evolution of legal informatics, the most important applications of informatics in the legal domain (legal databases, informatization of legal documents, uses of informatics in the legal professions), and the manifold relations between legal informatics and computer law.
