This course enables the student to:
1) Reach an understanding of the origin and evolution of mathematical thought in different historical and cultural contexts.
2) Consider the development of mathematics as a discipline and the relationship with philosophical thought, with the natural sciences and with technology and praxis.
3) Develop a cultural view of the role of mathematics in the contemporary world, including its transmission and matematical education.
