ANGLO-AMERICAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE I
(objectives)
The course aims at providing the students with a thorough knowledge of the literary and cultural history of the Anglophone regions of America. Special attention will be devoted to the cultural and literary geographies, the processes of colonization, exile, and migration, as well as to the writing by ethnic, religious and gender minorities. The students will acquire competence with regard to the techniques of text analysis and the methods for literary and philological research. The reading of texts will be aimed at appraising their thematic, formal, intertextual, and performative aspects. The students will be also acquainted with the most important theoretical and critical references, and will be able to argue competently about the themes and issues tackled in the course.
