Aim of the course is the use of semiology as a method to analyze cinema and the film language. Adopting De Saussure's models, Metz suggests that film is a”language” (not a “langue”), that is a less clearly defined system of recognizable conventions, in which each shot used in a sequence works like a unit in a linguistic statement. Title of the course 2011-2012: “Movie memories of Underdevelopment: migrant people, rom and other damned of the earth”.
