CINEMA ABOUT CINEMA Program: The course aims to analyze the ways in which Italian cinema represented itself: its environment, its places, its industrial and professional machine, its technologies, its divistic figures; its authorial and genre systems, its formal canons, its relationship with the spectator, its ability to reflect the social and cultural discourses. Starting from the concepts of metalanguage, self-reference, reflexivity, intertextuality and interdiscursiveness, we will analyze some significant texts and moments in which Italian cinema describes and theorises itself, its history, its operating mechanics, its social, artistic and cultural roles.
