The student will acquire knowledge of the aspects, moments, issues, and texts of Italian linguistic history from the Origins to the present day, with particular attention to the most ancient phases of our language and with special reference to the medieval and renaissance phases of the Middle Ages, and with specific attention to certain paradigmatic cases. They will also acquire knowledge of the origins and foundations of Italian dialectology examined from a historical point of view.
