I’m currently Full Professor of Early Modern European History at the University of Roma Tre. I obtained my M.A degree (laurea) in Political Science and History and my Ph.D. in Early Modern European History at the University of Rome ‘Sapienza’ (1996 and 2000 respectively). I have recently been appointed as a Member of the School of Historical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ, for the academic year 2013-2014. I was the Lauro De Bosis Lecturer in the History of Italian Civilization at Harvard University during the academic year 2010-2011. I have held Fellowships at the Harvard University Center for Renaissance Studies in Florence, Villa I Tatti (2006-2007), at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America, Columbia University, New York (2009-2010), the Institut d’Histoire de la Réformation of Geneva (2004), the University of Madison, Wisconsin (2005), the Newberry Library, Chicago (2007) and I’ve held post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Rome “Sapienza” (2001-2003), the Fondazione Luigi Firpo in Turin (2003-2005), the Fondazione Michele Pellegrino in Turin (2005-2006). I have participated in and contributed to several international conferences and I have collaborated with a number of national and international research projects (MIUR- PRIN) on Book Censorship, Inquisition, and Communication in Early Modern Europe. Since 2007 I am a member of an international network financed by the European Science Foundation on Reading and Censorship in Early Modern Europe. I am the Principal Investigator of a Trilateral Research Project (German-French-Italian) funded by the Italian-German Center in Villa Vigoni on "Menaced Identity, threatening alterity. Socio-Religious Communication in preaching and theatrical representation from Late Medieval to the Early Modern time" (2016-2018). I’m the author of five monographs published in Italian by Il Mulino, Olschki, and Edizioni della Normale and translated in English by Ashgate, Brill, Palgrave Mcmillan, and Notre Dame University Press; two edited volumes; and dozens of articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals. In 2010 I’ve taught at the University of Harvard, MA. From 2003 to 2004 I’ve taught at the University of Rome ‘Sapienza’, and from 2003 to the present I have been teaching at the University of Roma Tre. I have been giving lectures at Harvard University, Columbia University, Princeton University, New York University, University of Pennsylvania, American Academy in Rome.
