The course aims at providing the students with the basic knowledge of the structural engineering, for the calculation and checks of structures according to current codes and standards. Beyond the concepts of structural safety, necessary to fully understand the approach of technical codes, the issue of structural calculation of civil and industrial constructions, with particular emphasis on harbor and maritime structures, and the design and verification of steel and reinforced concrete members are also addressed. The student will learn the theoretical notions and the analytical-numerical tools for the design and verification of this type of elements, with reference to the current national legislation and Eurocodes. To complete the training plan, practical examples will also be carried out and analyzed with the help of specific software and calculation sheets, as a modern approach to the structural engineering requires.
